Opened in 2005 by actress Prunella Scales and her actor/director son, Samuel West, the Studio@TPS exists as a dynamic and flexible performance space for a wide range of uses: student performance space; professional theatre productions; meeting and conference space; art gallery; cinema auditorium and lecture tour venue – to name but a few.
The Studio@TPS attracts a rich variety of professional performance companies for the whole community. Visiting performers have included English National Ballet, Hull Truck Theatre Company, Union Dance Company, The Watermill Theatre, Julian Joseph and Proteus Theatre Company to name but a few.
We are proud to serve the local community through a number of creative projects and we have worked with local devised theatre company, Shady Jane, for many years. We have provided a flexible space for hire to local community groups, businesses and charities in the East Hampshire area. We would be delighted to work with your company or organisation. Our theatre seats 168, is fully equipped and we can provide technical assistance on request. Please go to our Contact page to find out more.
Performances from The Petersfield School students continue throughout the year from several curriculum areas and are a great way to support the school as well as seeing emerging young talent. Several local schools also use the venue for their own individual or collaborative events.
Studio Theatre Productions
Formed in 2019 by TPS Chair of Governors Steve Cliff and then Studio Manager, Thomas Kates, Studio Theatre Productions produces in house productions – with all proceeds going directly into helping fund the theatre and the school community.
The debut production (Michelle Magorian and Robert Buckley’s ‘Tinsel the Musical’) performed a sell out run in November 2019, and several productions are already planned into 2020 and beyond.
